Description

The watermill and attached mill house, dated 1699 on the sluice arch, are located over the River Bure. The watermill features white colourwashed brick and a weather-boarded third storey, topped with a slate roof from around 1880. The ground floor has two doors, one of which has a reeded doorcase from around 1800, and there is another door leading to the first floor. The windows are scattered, and the weather-boarded third storey has three casement windows with glazing bars. There are three gabled roof dormers with fixed windows of small panes and glazing bars. A painted weather-boarded lucum is present at the gable end, and there is a large internal stack at the left-hand gable of the mill, along with a curved shaped buttress at the front. The water wheel was removed around 1939, and the mill was in use until 1965.

The attached mill house is two bays wide and dates from the 18th century, having been extended by two bays to the left around 1880 under a continuous roof. It is built of colourwashed brick with a dentil cornice and has a pantile roof. The mill house is two storeys high with an attic. An off-centre door in the second bay has four panels, with the upper two being glazed. The wooden doorcase from around 1880 features two columns and two round pilasters that support a flat canopy with decorative fretwork verge made from parts brought together. The windows are sash windows from around 1880, and there are two gabled roof dormers from the same period with casements. A central axial stack is located at the former gable end.
