Description
The original building of the main block of Fakenham Grammar School dates from the early to mid-19th century. It is constructed of yellow and grey brick and features a low-pitched hipped slated roof with wide eaves supported by paired brackets. The building is two storeys high and has a symmetrical facade with a layout of two bays, one central bay, and two additional bays. The central section projects slightly and is topped with a small pediment. The windows are sash style with glazing bars and flat rubbed brick arches. A wide central porch is supported by two pairs of Ionic columns and pilasters, which hold up an entablature adorned with a dentilled cornice. There are large modern Georgian-style additions at each end of the building that are not included in this listing.
