Description

The entrance lodge to Stiffkey Old Hall is a detached structure dated 1604 or earlier, featuring the arms of Sir Nathaniel Bacon, marking the year of his knighthood. It is constructed of brick with stone dressings. The lodge has a central carriage entrance that is pedimented and arched, although it has been filled in. This entrance is flanked by semi-octagonal buttresses. The rear of the lodge displays a similar blend of gothic and classical architectural details. Above the ground floor, there is an incomplete string course, and the building currently has a temporary roof and doors.
