Description
29 and 31 The Street are cottages dating from around 1840. They are built with pebble flint walls and gault dressings, topped with slate roofs, and are arranged in an 'L' plan. No 29 is a single-storey building with three bays. It features 20th-century windows inserted within original cambered rubbed brick arches, which have brick quoined surrounds. There is a lean-to porch with a boarded door, and on the returns, there are diamond pattern cast iron casement windows. The building has moulded brick verges.
No 31 consists of two bays and is one and a half storeys high. On the ground floor, it has three light cast iron casement windows with diamond pattern glazing bars, set under rubbed brick cambered arches with quoined brick surrounds. The dormers have gabled roofs and cast iron diamond pattern panes. There is a moulded brick cornice, a moulded brick end stack on the north side, and a stack on the party wall with No 29.
