Description
Hall Farm Cottages is a house that has been divided into cottages, dated 1603 on the lintel of the doorway. It is constructed of galleted flint with brick dressings and has a pantile roof. The building has a 2-cell plan, though it has been altered internally, with a later addition to the side and an outshut to the rear. The west facade features four bays and is two storeys high. The left-hand bay was likely added in the 18th century, incorporating some early brickwork. The central doorway has chamfered brick reveals and a moulded doorframe, with an overlight that has two principal and three minor mullions, topped by a moulded brick pediment.
To the right of the door is a four-light brick mullioned and transomed window with ovolo mouldings and remnants of render. There is a small stair light to the right that is now blocked. To the left of the door, there is a 19th-century casement window in an earlier chamfered opening. All ground floor windows are topped with moulded brick pediments. The upper left-hand window is a 19th-century addition in an earlier chamfered opening, while above the door is a two-light brick mullioned window, and to the right of this is a four-light brick mullioned window. The extreme right features a small blocked light with remnants of rendered reveals.
The building has a brick dentil eaves cornice, with a moulded kneeler on the right-hand stepped gable and a left-hand parapet gable. It has an off-centre axial stack and two gable-end stacks, the right one having two octagonal shafts, part of which is now lost. There are two blocked lights on the right-hand gable with moulded brick pediments and remnants of render on the hollow chamfer reveals, while the left has a brick mullion still in place. Inside, there is a brick stair beside the stack, and the beams feature ovolo mouldings with jewel stops.
