Description

Pensthorpe Manor Cottages is a 17th-century house constructed from flint with brick dressings and a red pantiled roof. Originally a single house, it has since been divided into cottages. The building features two storeys, with three window openings and three doors on the ground floor, and four first-floor windows along with one small casement. It has brick end quoins, kneelers, and coped parapets, with an end stack. The east gable is made of flint with brick dressings and has brick-dressed windows on the ground, first, and attic floors. There is a partly blocked brick mullioned window on the first floor at the rear.

A two-storey brick addition from the 18th century is gabled. Inside, there are spine beams on the ground floor and a steeply pitched butt-purlin roof with collar braces. Attached to the west is a row of three two-storey cottages, also made from flint with brick dressings. This row has five ground-floor windows, two of which are blocked, and one boarded door, along with two first-floor windows. It features brick quoins and a dentil eaves cornice, with a shared stack on the party wall of the earlier house and a 20th-century stack at the west end. The cottages are listed for their group value with the earlier house and date from the late 18th or early 19th century.
