Description

Grange Farmhouse is a farmhouse built in the early 17th century and early 19th century. It features colourwashed brick with a roof made of black glazed pantiles or plain tiles. The original structure is in an L shape, which has been extended with another L-shaped addition to create the facade.

The west front is two storeys high and includes a gabled cross wing on the right, where there is a doorway beneath a gabled hood supported by engaged fluted Ionic columns. Above the door is a sash window, and to the left is a two-storey canted bay. All the windows have been renewed. To the left of the cross wing is a two-storey, two-bay front with renewed sash windows. The roofs are gabled and feature gault brick ridge stacks.

The south front of the original 17th-century house has been refaced to match the extension, featuring four French doors behind an ironwork trellis and four early 19th-century sash windows on the first floor, which have glazing bars and are set under segmental arches. The east gable wall is stepped and has a central internal stack. The ground floor is made of flint, while the rest is brick. Some wall studs remain on the north front.

Inside, the stairwell is illuminated by a glazed dome with a roll-moulded lower edge. In the scullery of the east range, transverse bridging beams retain rolls and hollow chamfer.
