Description

Greyfriars is a former rectory house built around 1840. It features carstone with stuccoed brick dressings and has slated roofs. The building is designed in a Tudor-Gothic style and has an "L" plan with a second section filling the angle. It is two storeys high with attics.

The entrance front includes a cement stucco rendered gabled porch with hood moulds above the door, a quatrefoil with a coat of arms above it, kneelers, a parapet, and a finial. On the north side, there is one blocked ground floor window and a three-light casement window on the first floor. The south side has a single gabled bay with a three-light casement on the ground floor and a two-light casement on the first floor, along with an attic ventilation slit. The openings feature stuccoed rustication and stucco hood-moulds, with a brick coped parapet gable and a brick stack.

The garden front faces south and has two end gables. The east gable includes a three-sided ground floor stone dressed bay window and a two-light casement on the first floor. The west gable has a three-light window on the ground floor, a two-light window on the first floor, and two gable two-light casements. Both gables have coped parapets with finials. In the center, there are a three-light casement on the ground floor and a two-light casement on the first floor. The center and east gables have stucco dressings, while the west gable is finished in brick. There are two brick stacks on the building.
