Description
The Mill, built around 1821, is a windmill located in West Winch. It is constructed from tarred brick in English bond and features an onion cap with a fantail and two sails. The structure has five floors, with the third floor including a balcony and a doorway facing east. There are four openings on the south side, each with a segmental head and glazing bars, and a similar opening on the second floor facing south-east. The ground floor has a doorway on the west side, and there is a renewed doorway with a loading balcony on the first floor to the north-west. Inside, some milling equipment remains. Attached to the north is a house that has been rebuilt, featuring a hipped roof with a notch for the sails. This house contains a large bread oven measuring approximately 2.5 by 1.8 meters. The mill was operational until 1937.
