Description
The White Hart Public House is a public house located on St James' Street in King's Lynn. It dates from the 17th century but was almost completely rebuilt in the mid-19th century. The building is constructed of rendered and colourwashed brick with a machine-tiled roof and has two storeys. To the right, there is an alleyway gate, and the entrance door is positioned to the right of a three-light casement window that features a cranked transom. To the left of this window, there is a one-light casement that completes the facade. A fascia band with hood brackets is found on both sides of the entrance. The first floor has three two-light cross casements, with the central window adorned with a pediment and the others featuring segmental pediments. The building has a dentil eaves cornice and kneelers, topped by a gabled roof. Internal gable-end stacks are present, with the western stack showing a lower fillet that suggests it may predate the 19th century. The rear of the building includes a mix of 19th and 20th-century extensions. Inside, the first-floor front room retains a 17th-century double sunk quadrant-moulded bridging beam.
