Description

No. 1 Saturday Market Place is a shop built in the early 18th century. It is constructed of red brick and topped with a slate roof. The building has two storeys and is arranged in five bays. The full-length shopfront, added in the late 20th century, disrupts the otherwise well-preserved facade. On the first floor, there are rusticated quoins and mid-18th century sash windows set within flush frames. The windows are topped with gauged skewback arches that feature keystones. A moulded timber eaves cornice runs along the top of the building, which has a gabled roof.
