Description
Ringstead Gallery is a farmhouse that dates back to 1678, though much of its structure is from the 18th century. It is built from coursed, squared clunch with galletting and features a red pantiled roof. The house consists of two sections that were heightened and refronted in the 18th century.
The symmetrical south front has a two-storey lobby entrance plan, with two ground floor three-light 20th-century casement windows that have arched heads and brick dressings, and two first floor three-light casements also with brick dressings. The central door is topped with an open pedimented lead flashed pentice canopy. The building has brick end quoins, a dogtooth brick eaves cornice, and axial and west end stacks.
The west gable displays the date stone and is made of rubble carstone, featuring two blocked long and low windows dressed in brick. The original roof pitch was raised to create a second floor in the 18th century, which is partially hidden by a brick and pantiled lean-to. To the east, there is an 18th-century extension that includes a single ground and first floor three-light casement window, an off-centre door, a brick coped parapet, and an end gable with a stack.
