Description
Marlborough House is a rectory that has been converted into a private house, dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of brick and features a slate roof with a double-pile plan. The east front has two storeys and an irregular arrangement of bays. In the center, there are half-glazed double-leaf doors set in a plain doorcase with panelled reveals and a hood above. To the right, there is one sash window, and on the first floor, there are two sash windows, all featuring glazing bars and gauged skewback arches. A platband runs between the storeys and extends into a bow at the south end. The roof is gabled and hipped to the south, with three irregularly placed stacks on the front pile. The south return of the front pile has a full-height, two-bay bow with French windows on the ground floor and sash windows above, continuing the design elements found on the facade. The platband from the front continues into the hipped two-storey rear pile, which is accessed through a French window on the ground floor, with a sash window above it.
