Description
Waterden House is a farmhouse dating from around 1800. It is constructed of red brick with some gault brick dressings and features a black glazed pantiled roof. The building has a two-storey, six-bay front range and two-storey service areas at the rear. The front includes four ground floor and five first floor sash windows with glazing bars, all set under flat rubbed brick arches. The central entrance is framed by an outer rubbed brick arch and an inner gault brick arched recess, which houses a six-panel raised and fielded door. The door has four upper panels that are glazed, topped by a sun-burst arched fanlight. A gault brick dentil eaves cornice runs along the top, and there are coped parapets and two end stacks. The return side features a single ground and first floor sash window with glazing bars. The two-storey service wing includes one ground floor sash window with glazing bars and two first floor casements with glazing bars. The architectural details suggest that this building is part of the former Holkham Estate.
