Description
The Nordelph War Memorial is a First World War memorial, with later additions for the Second World War, erected in 1923 by an unknown architect. It is made from grey granite and is prominently located in front of Nordelph Village Hall on Birchfield Road in Nordelph, Norfolk. The memorial features a rough-hewn Celtic cross, approximately 1.5 meters high, with a carved sword of sacrifice on its face, set on a plinth with a single-stepped base. The lower part of the shaft and the plinth display inscriptions in leaded lettering. The entire structure is enclosed by a kerbed area surrounded by seven posts connected by chains.
The inscription on the plinth reads, "THEY DIED THAT / WE MIGHT LIVE / 1914 – 1918 / (NAMES)," while the shaft includes the dates "1939 – 1945" and a name.
