Description
Ferry House and Ferryside are two houses that were formerly a public house, dating from the 17th century and later. The main range of the building runs north to south, with a cross wing extending west from the south end and another cross wing extending east from the north end. The structure is made of brick, with No.2 occupying the northern half of the main block and its attached cross wing, while No.4 occupies the remainder. No.2 has a pebbledashed exterior and a roof made of pantiles, mixed with plain tiles. The building has two storeys and an attic, with access to No.2 through a 20th-century door in the north gable wall. There are various 20th-century windows positioned at sensible intervals, and a doorway under a lean-to hood at the internal angle with No.4. The main east facade of the main block features two storeys and four irregular bays, with a 20th-century door located to the right of centre. The windows consist of 20th-century sashes and casements. The gabled roof has a ridge stack positioned over the door, and a large skylight in the roof indicates the former location of a dormer. Internal gable-end stacks are also present. The interior has little of interest visible, with 19th-century fireplaces and a roof structure that is boarded and not visible.
