Description

The Castle Hotel is a building primarily from the 18th century, although its core may be older. It is constructed from carstone and brick, with a stuccoed front featuring vermiculate rustications. The hotel has two storeys and attics, with windows located at both ends. The main entrance is notable for its Venetian window above and a half-moon window in the pediment on the second floor. There are five flush frame sash windows on the first floor, which include glazing bars. The building has a battlemented parapet with ends that sweep upwards, and it features a mansard roof covered with pantiles and tiles. The Castle Hotel, along with Nos 52 to 56 (even), forms a cohesive group.
