Description
The watertower, built in 1897, is a Grade II listed structure located on Lynn Road in New Hunstanton. It is constructed of brick and has a rectangular plan, rising three storeys with three bays in a Neo-Romanesque style. The ground floor features a battered plinth, and there are string courses at the first and second floors. An arched door is located on the east side, with a panel above it. The structure has two recessed blank panels on the east side and three on the other sides. The first floor includes one arched-headed window and two arched blank panels. The third floor is adorned with three oculi, each with metal glazing bars, on all faces. Each face also has two central and two corner pilasters. The elaborate parapet is corbelled out with overlapping courses and features machicolation-like brackets, divided by three-panel battlements. This watertower is the only surviving one of two that were built for New Hunstanton.
