Description
Upwell Hall is a house built in the mid-19th century. It is constructed from gault brick and features a low pitch, hipped slate roof with deep, boarded eaves. The building has a double pile plan and stands two storeys tall. The main entrance is on the south side, which includes a doorcase made of Ketton stone, with plain pilasters and an entablature. The east front has three bays, separated by pilaster strips, each containing a hung sash window with twelve panes. The ground floor has two larger windows with margin lights. At the north end, there is an orangery made of brick, featuring a parapetted, hipped roof. This orangery has two round-headed hung sash windows with twelve panes on either side of the doorway, which also has a similar arch with radial glazing bars. Inside, there is a top-lit stairwell with a cantilevered open-string staircase, which has three turned balusters on each tread and scroll-treated ends.
