Description
The Short Blue Public House is an early 18th-century public house that has been altered in the 20th century, with additions made to the rear in 1981. It is constructed of stuccoed brick and is colourwashed, featuring a pantile roof that is black-glazed at the front. The building is two storeys high and has a two-window range. The late 19th-century public house facade includes two leaded windows to the left of a recessed door and three leaded windows to the right. To the left of the facade is a plank door. The first floor has two 6/6 unhorned sash windows. The roof is gabled, with a truncated internal gable-end stack on the south side. The rear of the building features the 1981 additions under a catslide roof.
Inside, the ground floor has been opened into a single space. There is one sunk-quadrant bridging beam with bar and tongue stops, and a similar bridging beam in the first-floor front room. This room retains the lintel of an 18th-century horizontal window above the current sashes. The roof structure includes butt purlins, with many timbers having been renewed.
