Description
Trafford Mausoleum is located in St. Mary's Churchyard and was built around 1830, designed by Anthony Salvin in the Early English style. The design was exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1830. The mausoleum is constructed of limestone and features a steeply pitched lead roof. Each side has three bays of blank arcading, and there are staged angle buttresses with gabled heads topped by corner pinnacles. The eaves and gable parapets have roll-moulded copings, and there are cross-finials at the apex of each gable. The entrance door is located in the west gable, set under an arch with two orders and a hood mould that includes stops. The east gable features a blank arcade of four lancets beneath a large circular sexfoiled window. The mausoleum is enclosed by iron perimeter railings and gates.
