Description
This barn, located approximately 70 meters north of Old Hall Farmhouse, dates from the late 16th century to early 17th century. It is constructed of red brick, which has replaced a timber frame in the flank walls, and features a steeply-pitched thatched roof. The south wall has a large door opening that has been blocked with 20th-century brickwork. The gables are parapeted with tumbling in and some diaper work, and there is a large door opening in the west gable wall. Honeycomb brick vents are present in the east gable and flank walls. The barn has jowled principal posts with arch-braces supporting the tie beams that flank the threshing floor. The roof is a clasped purlin type with wind braces and a lower tier of butt purlins. On the north side, there are pantiled lean-tos. This barn is included for its group value with Old Hall Farmhouse.
