Description
The corn mill, located 32 metres north of Mill House, is a derelict windmill built in 1860. It is constructed of red brick and features an internal lead flat roof. The structure is a circular, tapering brick tower that was originally five storeys high. The ground floor has an entrance on the west side, which is marked by a segmental brick arch and a stable door. Above this, on the first floor, there is another entrance with a segmental brick arch and door frame.
The mill has windows on the north side at the first, second, and third floors, with the lower window featuring a cast iron casement. On the south side, there are windows at the first, second, third, and fourth floors, with the lower two retaining cast iron casements. All windows are single light with segmental brick arches. There is a tall blocked opening on the east side at ground and first floor levels, which now contains an inserted opening at the first floor level with a segmental brick arch.
The remains of a shot curb can be seen on the parapet. Internally, the floors and floor beams are intact, and the machinery includes an upright drive shaft, sack hoist, crown wheel, great spur wheel, and some tentering gear. One pair of stones from the original set remains. Additionally, the remains of the cap frame, including the sprattle beam, weatherbeam, and tail beam, are stored within the mill. The cast iron windshaft is located 20 metres to the west of the mill.
