Description
The Parish Rooms, Engine House, and Barn to the Old Rectory is a former rectory barn constructed of red brick and pantiles in 1731, later extended to serve as a fire engine house in 1853. The gable wall features a plinth and 20th-century casement windows set in original openings, along with honeycomb brick ventilators, all beneath segmental brick arches. A datestone inscribed "T.A. 1731" is present, along with an owl hole above it. The parapet gable has tumbling-in and tie iron ends with the initials T.A. The elevation facing the churchyard has five blocked openings with segmental brick arches and some scattered 20th-century windows. The north elevation retains the original barn doors. The building has a large span double roof made of hardwood, supported by two sets of staggered butt purlins. The Engine House, located to the north, includes a datestone above a cambered brick arch and was built to accommodate the fire engine that was previously kept in the church.
