Description

A pair of cottages dating from the mid-18th century, situated on the west side of Brook Street, Buxton. The cottages are constructed of red brick and have a reed-thatched roof. They are of 1½ storeys in height. The front facade features two-light casement windows with segmental brick heads, and four windows are visible. There are two entrances on the ground floor: one original two-panel door with its frame, and a second door. A swept dormer window incorporates a two-light casement. Simple brick corner pilasters are topped with moulded caps. The gables are parapeted, with brick tumbling and moulded oversailing courses at the eaves. An off-centre chimney stack is present. Traces of diaper patterning are visible in the south gable. Later 20th-century casement windows have been added to the gables. A lean-to addition is located at the north gable.
