Description
Dudwick Lodge is a lodge house dating from the 17th century, with a datestone of 1652 reset in the west wall. The building features a mix of materials, including partly timber-framed sections, pebble-dash rendering with applied false timbering on the east side, and flint and red brick on the west. It has a half-hipped reed thatched roof and stands two storeys tall with attics, showcasing a first floor that jetties out on the south-east side. The windows include two and three-light casements, with some 20th-century windows present on the west elevation. Drip moulds are located over openings on the north and east sides, while scalloped barge-boards adorn the north and west sides, complemented by a wide eaves overhang on the north. A canted porch on the north wall features a hipped thatched roof and pilasters made of 'pudding stone' flanking the doorway. There is a lozenge-shaped window with leaded glazing in the splayed wall, and an off-centre chimney stack with two rebuilt octagonal shafts. An attic window in the south gable has a foiled head and leaded glazing. Inside, the north end room contains a heavy scantling bridging beam and joists.
