Description

The building at 20 and 22 Red Lion Street dates to the 18th century, though it may incorporate elements of an earlier structure. It is constructed of red brick with a steeply pitched roof covered in black-glazed pantiles. The building is two storeys high with an attic. The facade has six bays. The windows are sash windows with architraves and glazing bars, set within flat rubbed brick arches. Two window openings on the first floor are blank. Corner pilasters feature moulded brick capitals. A modern shop front is present at No 20, while No 22 retains a shop front dating to the 19th century. A gabled dormer window with a casement is located on the west side. Chimney stacks are visible at the north and south gables.
