Description
No. 30 Market Place is an 18th-century building constructed of red brick with a pantile roof that features a parapet on the Market Place elevation. The structure stands three storeys tall and has sash windows with glazing bars on the ground and first floors. Above the window openings are rubbed brick arches with painted keystones. The building is adorned with corner pilasters that have moulded brick caps and a moulded and dentilled brick string course at the second floor level, which marks the original eaves level. A prominent shop front with pilasters enhances the façade, and there is a doorway with a pedimented doorcase located on the left side. The building also includes two gable chimney stacks and a two-storey wing to the south, which features a semi-circular headed window at the first floor level. Additionally, there are two blocked openings with rubbed arches. The wings to the east have been largely rebuilt and refaced to Red Lion Street.
