Description

The Poplars and the adjoining house to the east are two terraced houses dating from the late 17th century, with later alterations. They are constructed of rendered and colourwashed brick and topped with a pantile roof. The original house was divided and extended to the east in the 19th century. The building has an L-shaped plan and consists of two storeys, with a rear wing to the north and a long single-storey wing to the north at the eastern end.

The facade of the original house features three windows and a central early 19th-century doorcase, which is adorned with reeded pilasters and an entablature that has a plain cornice. The windows are sash style with glazing bars. There is a timber modillion cornice and a curved gable at the eastern end, which includes an internal stack. An end chimney is located at the western end where it meets the 19th-century range.

The 19th-century range has three windows and a central set of double doors leading to a carriageway that provides access to the rear yard. The first-floor windows are sash style with glazing bars and timber architraves, while the ground floor features 20th-century casement windows. The building has brick dentil eaves and an end stack at the eastern gable. The single-storey range is not considered to be of special interest.
