Description

This is an early 18th-century building originally conceived as a single house, but later divided into three separate dwellings at numbers 22, 24, and 26 High Street, Cawston. The building is constructed of red brick with a pantile roof. It is two storeys high with a rear outshut.

The south-facing facade has been significantly altered, with evidence of blocked doorways and windows. The ground floor doors and windows are 20th-century replacements, while the first-floor windows date to the 19th century. Fragments of a string course are visible at first-floor level on the south elevation and along the gable at eaves level. A single central brick pilaster, with a moulded base, suggests that it was once part of a pair, potentially associated with a former main entrance. The building features brick dentil eaves, a curved parapet gable to the west, a central axial stack, and an eastern axial stack. The roof is hipped to the east and has 20th-century gabled dormer windows at the rear. Inside, the first floor has transverse beams with chamfers and run-out stops.
