Description

This is a house, dating back to the 18th century, which was remodelled from an earlier building. It is built of rendered brick with a thatched reed roof, and sections of the original timber frame remain visible in the external walls. The house is one-and-a-half storeys high, built on a lobby entrance plan. The front elevation is symmetrical, featuring two three-light casement windows, one with a transom. A central doorway has a segmental head, and a central chimney stack rises from the ridge line. The gables are parapeted. A lean-to has been added at the rear, and two swept dormers are visible on the north side of the roof. Inside, a winding stair is located beside the chimney stack in the entrance lobby. On the west side of the stack, there is one jowled post and arch-brace supporting a tie beam. A beam end and arch-brace were removed to create a door opening on the south side. The roof is a butt purlin design, with cambered collars.
