Description

Home Farm, also known as Spong Farmhouse, is a farmhouse dating from around 1700. It has a brick plinth and a timber frame with roughcast clay lump infill. The roof is thatched, and the house has two storeys. A door is located to the left of centre, set within a timber case. There are three sash windows with glazing bars on each floor. The roof is cabled, with a central axial stack on the right and a second external stack at the west gable, which is weatherboarded. A single-storey utility bay to the west is not included as part of the original farmhouse. Numerous 18th-century casement windows are present at the rear. The first floor of the east end is constructed of brick. Inside, the timber framing is simple, with a vice near the stack. Both fireplaces have been blocked.
