Description

Old Hall Farmhouse is a house, now functioning as a farmhouse, that dates back to around 1570. It is timber framed with wattle and daub, and some clay lump infill set on a brick plinth. The roof is black glazed pantiled, with red tiles at the rear, and the building features a cross wing plan with two storeys. The central range is flanked by gabled cross wings.

There are two asymmetrical doors, one of which on the right is from the 19th century. The ground floor has two renewed lower casements, while above, there are three 3-light timber mullioned casements that are from the 17th or 18th century. The north wing has one renewed window on each floor and a 20th-century French window. The ground floor is encased in brick, and the timber studding on the north wall is exposed. The gabled roof has bargeboards and a 20th-century stack.

The south wing is similar and features an early 19th-century tripartite window on the ground floor. At the rear, there is an 18th-century catslide extension that is timber framed on a brick plinth, with fenestration from the 19th and 20th centuries, including two 20th-century flat dormers and two large external stacks. Inside, the original staircase that rises to the attic has survived, featuring heavy turned balusters on square bases, newel posts with incised rectangular fields and top ball finials, and moulded handrails.
