Description
Church Farmhouse is a farmhouse dated 1859, built by William Mason of Necton Hall. It is constructed of red brick, partly whitewashed, and features a steeply-pitched plain tile roof. The building has two storeys and a symmetrical south facade with three bays; the centre bay is slightly advanced and gabled. It has 2 and 3-light casements with glazing bars set in chamfered brick reveals that have raised brick quoins. Above the first-floor window, there is a central roundel made of Costessey ware, which displays the date 1859, along with a panel below the window featuring the initials W.M. The central doorway has a four-centred arched head and a battened stable door. The eaves are adorned with brick dentils. A large central chimney stack has chamfered panels at the base and three shafts—two octagonal and one lozenge-shaped—on moulded bases. There are casements and attic vents in the gables. The later lean-to extensions at the rear are not of special interest. The farmhouse is included for its group value.
