Description

NECTON TUNS ROAD, East side TF 80 NE 5/38 Church Farm House GV II

Farmhouse, dated 1859. Built by William Mason of Necton Hall. Red brick, partly whitewashed. Steeply-pitched plain tile roof. Two storeys. Symmetrical south facade of three bays; centre bay slightly advanced and gabled. 2 and 3-light casements with glazing bars set in chamfered brick, reveals with raised brick quoins. Central Costessey ware roundel above first floor window with the date 1859 and a panel below the window with the initials W.M.. Central doorway with four-centred arched head and battened stable door. Brick dentil eaves. Large central chimney stack with chamfered panels in base and three shafts - two octagonal and one lozenge-shaped - on moulded bases. Casements and attic vents in gables. Later lean-to extensions to rear not of special interest. Included for group value.
