Description
Bawdeswell Hall is a house built in 1683, as indicated by the gable tie-ends, and refurbished in 1861. It is constructed of brick and features plain tile and pantile roofs. The building has a roughly E-shaped plan with a west wing and porch added in 1861. It stands two storeys high with an attic and has a facade of nine bays, featuring Victorian mullion and transom windows, some of which are set into the original openings. There are single-storey Victorian canted bays on the projecting wings. The original platband has an ovolo moulded lower edge, and there is a 19th-century dentil cornice along with curvilinear gables that are original to the west gable of the main block and the east projecting wing. Several moulded chimney shafts are designed in the Tudor style. The east facade has two original openings, one of which is blocked, featuring skewback arches. There are extensive later additions to the rear of the building. The initials "CS" are found on the rainwater hoppers.
