Description

Wood Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse with later additions, located in Cranworth Woodrising. The original wing is of timber frame construction, rendered and plastered, while other sections are of rendered and colourwashed brick. All roofs are covered with pantiles.

The original part of the house is a two-storey block with an attic, and its gable end features a sash window with glazing bars, and an 18th-century two-light window with a metal casement and some leaded glass. A 19th-century flat-roofed porch with a crenellated parapet, pointed side windows, and a panelled door has been added to the facade opposite a former gable-end stack. The porch has one 19th-century three-light casement window on the ground floor, and an earlier two-light window with a metal casement above. A lower two-storey side extension has five 19th-century three-light casement windows. A further 19th-century block was built to the rear of the side extension. The rear of this extension features two first-floor sash windows with glazing bars, one modern window, and a two-light mullion window with ovolo moulding and glazing bars. The original block contains a roof with mutilated clasped purlins.
