Description
16 and 18 London Street is a mid-19th century house and shop. The building is made of red brick laid in Flemish bond, with a roof covered in pantiles.
The principal elevation faces east onto London Street and features three bays over two storeys. The pitched roof is also covered in pantiles, and there is a shallow dentil cornice.
On the ground floor, there are entrances on the left and right. The left entrance has a six-panelled door with a covered over-light, flanked by two pilasters. The right side has a passageway entrance beneath a flat brick arch. Between these doorways is a shop front with a slightly projecting cornice.
On the first floor, the left bay aligns with the adjoining building at number 20, continuing its brickwork. The central bay projects slightly forward and features a canted oriel window with one-over-one and two-over-two horned sashes. The outer bays have six-over-six unhorned sash windows with concealed boxes.
The earlier listings indicated that there were no features of special interest internally, and no further inspection of the interior has occurred as part of the 2024 amendment process.
