Description

Wolferton House is a late 18th-century brick farmhouse with pantile roofs, built in a T-shaped plan. The main three-story block is flanked by single-story pavilions, each featuring two two-light casement windows with semicircular heads. The main block has three bays, with a pair of Venetian windows on the ground floor. A panelled front door, partially glazed, is set within a pedimented doorcase supported by pilasters. Later 19th-century sash windows with single vertical glazing bars beneath skewback arches are found on the first floor, while smaller sash windows with similar skewback arches are on the top floor. The building features shaped modillion cornices and hipped roofs, with a pair of chimney stacks on the rear wall. The side pavilions also have chimney stacks on their rear walls. A service wing extends to the rear and contains some surviving mullion and transom windows—both two-light and three-light—on the first floor, along with an axial chimney stack.
