Description
Redbrick Farm Barns is a group of interconnecting barns that enclose a cattle yard, built in the early 19th century. The barns are constructed of brick and feature pantiled roofs. The north barn has full height double doors from the 20th century on its east side, along with slit lights positioned below diamond ventilation panels. It has a dentiled eaves cornice and a gabled roof. The east gable displays tumbling and a datestone inscribed with "J.B.T. 1824." The roof structure includes tie beams, principals, two tiers of through purlins, and scissor braces attached to every third principal. The southern range of the barns forms an important wall along the road, which is only articulated by the 20th century full height double doors and the dentiled eaves cornice. The roof transitions from gabled to hipped. There is a short return to the west, and a cart shed with timber posts and a hipped roof to the south closes off the cattle yard, linking to the north barn by a brick wall.
