Description

This is a headstone dated 1919, located approximately 5 metres south of the southwest corner of the church tower in Rougham. The headstone features a carving of a twin-engined bi-plane, flanked by volutes. The inscription reads "Thomas Keppel North O.B.E. ..... He was the superintendent of Vickers works and designed the first aeroplane to cross the Atlantic ocean." This headstone is noted for its unusual motif.
