Description

The dovecote at Rougham Hall dates from around 1690 and was designed by Hon. Roger North. It is constructed of coursed flint with brick angle pilasters and features thatched roofs. The exterior is octagonal, while the interior is circular. There is one doorway and a two-light mullion window. The dovecote has a conical roof topped with a ball finial. Inside, it contains approximately 936 brick nesting boxes. The structure is fully described in North's treatise 'Of Building', which is held in the British Museum.
