Description

The Church of St. Botolph is a parish church with origins dating back to the 12th century, which has been remodelled in the 14th, 15th, and 19th centuries. It is constructed from flint with ashlar quoins and features slate roofs. The church consists of a nave and chancel only. A gabled west porch, built in 1887, protects an early 14th-century inner arch with a wave design below a hood on beak stops. The west façade includes a three-light west window in the 19th-century Perpendicular style and a coped parapet supported by kneelers. A hexagonal bell cote with a short spire is supported by a buttress that drops to a figure corbel. The south side of the nave has two three-light panel windows from the 15th century, and there are no buttresses. A vestry outshut is attached to the chancel. The east window features a three-light design in the 14th-century stem-and-leaf style below a hood mould with head stops. The chancel's north side has two lancet windows, while the north nave includes two two-light mouchette windows, with the western window being original.

Inside, there is a piscina in the chancel with a round arch on a corbel decorated with three dog teeth. The east window has a rere arch with dying mouldings, and there is a rere arch to one of the north lancets, with a splay to the other. The roofs are boxed over, and the pews date from 1853, along with other fittings from the 19th century.
