Description

Barracks Cottage is likely a barn that was converted into a house, dating from the early 18th century, with alterations made in the 20th century. The building is timber framed with brick infill and clay lump at the rear, all rendered, and has a thatched roof. It is a single storey with a dormer attic. The doors and windows are all from the late 20th century and are arranged irregularly. The gabled roof has three eyebrow dormers, the one on the north side containing two separate casement windows. There are two symmetrical ridge stacks. The timber frame is intact and constructed of thin timbers with straight braces. The roof features staggered butt purlins.
