Description

Wellesley House, which incorporates an art gallery, is an early 18th-century dwelling. It is built of brick with pantile roofs. A vertical division towards the centre of the main block suggests two phases of construction that were very close in date. A two-storey side extension, slightly lower than the main block, houses the art gallery.

The main block has two storeys and an attic, with seven three-light and one two-light mullion and transom windows from the 19th century. These windows are set beneath skewback arches with cambered soffits. The extension features a casement window on the first floor and two doorways, both with cambered soffits. There are three sloping dormers and gable-end stacks. The gables have a slight tumble in. The building is included on the list for its group value.
