Description
Puddled Cottage is a cottage dating from the 16th and 17th centuries, which was restored in the 1980s. It features a timber frame with a wattle and daub interior, covered with rendered breeze blocks. The building has two storeys, with a door on the left side and three ground floor and three first floor 20th century replacement mullioned windows, all set under labelled hood moulds added in 1983. The roof is bell-shaped, gabled to the west and hipped to the east, with a central ridge stack. The rear of the cottage is similar in design. The east gable retains one original diamond mullioned window, while the bay to the west of the door is entirely of late 20th century construction. Inside, there is a thin scantling, rebuilt and altered fireplace, and tension bracing at the corners. The roof structure includes a tie beam with queen struts, collars, and clasped purlins.
