Description

Green Farmhouse is a house dating from the late 18th century. It is constructed of clay lump with a brick skin added around 1800 and was extended to become two houses, with a pantiled roof. It was converted back into a single house in the 19th century and features a lobby entrance plan.

The exterior is two storeys high with a three-window range, which is extended by an additional two-window range to the west. The east lobby-entrance section has a central six-panelled door, with the upper two panels being glazed. There are late 18th century three-light casements on either side of the door, both with external shutters, and all openings are set under segmental arches. The first floor has two two-light leaded casements. The roof is hipped, and there is a ridge stack located over the door.

The west extension features a four-panelled door flanked by one three-light late 19th century casement on each side, with the right-hand window being metal. There are three two-light metal casements on the first floor of this extension, and the west stack has been rebuilt. The rear (south) elevation includes a 20th-century door and casements, along with one flat-topped 20th-century dormer.

Inside, there is a winder staircase located to the north of the main stack. The west room, which is part of the original building, has a chamfered bridging beam with tongue stops, while the east room features a boxed bridging beam. There is also a winder staircase in the north-west corner of the west extension. The roof of the east part includes tie beams and two tiers of taper-tenoned butt purlins, while the roof of the west part has tie beams and principals.
