Description
Wash Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the early 17th century, though it was completely refaced in brick in the mid-19th century. The roof is covered with corrugated tiles and the building has two storeys. At the front, two mid-20th century French windows are positioned on either side of a gabled bay window. The south end of the farmhouse features a square shape with a steeply pitched gabled roof, and there is a large ridge stack with four octagonal shafts set on a bill moulded plinth. A cross wing was added to the northeast around 1900, and all exterior details are from the 20th century. Inside, the lounge includes a spine beam with roll and tongue stops, and various cockshead hinges are found on the internal doors. The roof structure consists of simple upper crucks with collars, although only one pair survives, along with staggered butt purlins. The building has undergone significant alterations over time.
