Description

This building, comprising numbers 11 and 13 High Street, began as a manor house dating to the late 17th century. It was significantly remodelled in the 18th and 19th centuries. The structure retains a timber-framed core, now largely concealed by brickwork, and has a corrugated tile roof. The building is two storeys high. Number 11 features a late 20th-century shop front with plate glass. Number 13 displays a mid-19th century double-fronted shop fascia, characterised by side pilasters and consoles supporting the architrave. A central entrance door sits between the shop bays, and a further entrance door is positioned to the right, framed by an Ionic Order pilastered doorcase surmounted by a broken pediment. Nine sash windows with glazing bars are located on the first floor, all dating to the 19th century. Heavy timber eaves are present, and the bell-gabled roof is hipped at the east end. An eastern ridge stack is visible. The rear roof slope is pantiled.
