Description
The Day Monument is a chest tomb dedicated to members of the Day family, dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of ashlar stone and features a moulded plinth and capping. The sides are raised and panelled, framed with moulding. Inscriptions are present on the long sides, and there are relief arms on the eastern end. Surrounding the tomb is a double railed enclosure, which includes a simple slab with arms in relief and an inscription in the northern section. The railings are adorned with spear heads and urn finials placed at regular intervals, and the enclosure has a stone plinth with capping. This monument is located immediately east of the Church of the Holy Cross.
