Description

Moor Cottage is a house dating from the mid to late 17th century, with a 20th-century extension. It features a timber frame with red brick nogging and part roughcast, along with weatherboarding on the rear and the addition. The cottage has a tiled roof and consists of two bays, with one storey and an attic. The plinth is made of flint, puddingstone, and brick. The original entrance in the right bay has been blocked. The building displays exposed posts, rails, studs, and passing tension braces. The 20th-century windows are two-light casements, and there are two-light gabled dormers. The right end has a large external stack built in English bond with offsets and a 19th-century cap, while the roughcast wall reveals exposed plates and purlins. To the left, there is a weatherboarded addition with an entrance and a lean-to at the front, which has a slightly lower ridge and one dormer at the rear. Inside, the cottage features exposed framing and a large fireplace.
